MYCASA individualized deep accompaniment & resources to our members based on their needs, and at their pace. We come together as a community to give workshops, network, and create brave spaces together to vent, validate our experiences, and break stigma and isolation.
Our Mission
MYCASA was created in 2016 by and for Youth in Care who are attending post-secondary, as well as members who are seeking to pursue a training in Montreal to improve the course of their life. The need for an organization such as ours makes itself apparent with these regretful numbers, but what we wish to highlight is our stories, our lives, our ability to heal, dream and empower ourselves. That alone should always be the stronger argument to open up our hearts to each others’ humanity and create a deeper ability to listen to the pain we can alleviate, and eventually transmute these statistics into sustainable change.
Our mission is to create and foster a lifelong Community of Care for BIPOC and Marginalized Youth from the Child Welfare system.
After years of peer support and advocacy we realized people from Care need to belong to a community that centers without instrumentalizing our identities or institutionalizing our existence.Â
We welcome each other’s pain, courage, resilience and needs. We support our mental health, cultural practices and spirituality in a harm reductive, non-judgemental space.Â
We do not limit our scope to youth from care in post secondary and envision to create lifelong family ties, through our chosen and extended familyÂ
We now focus on supporting our healing, well-being, leadership, sense of purpose by bringing support to each other through a radical practice of love.Â

FAMILY CONSTELLATION & KINTSUGI – Boundaries & Repair
Japanese practice, when something is broken we repair it with gold. Here we will look into attachment styles, reconciliation with estranged family members, family fractures from being in care and how we can rebuild a sense of belonging to self, others, family, and community. Exploring the trauma, the particular traits, and recurrent behaviors, we see from cycles of abandonment experienced.Â
Love and relationships/Healthy Intimacy for youth from care.
We will explore healthy attachment styles, and unlearning harmful power dynamics and imbalances – we will talk about the recurrent patterns of abuse folks from care fall in. Address topics around sexuality, and envision healthy relationships together.
Understand the context and vulnerable position people from Care can experience, and recognize when partners are not equipped to support and love us best.Â
Relationships are the foundation of our work, since supporting and nurturing connections can change the trajectory of our lives.
Chosen family defining what sense of lifelong belonging we want to create. Have a community contract for all of us to abide to. How do we interact with each other as peers?
How to address conflict with care, and hold a standard of respect. Create a container for a brave space. How do we interact with each other in a way that is mutually nurturing while recognizing the role of mentorship and experience as conduit for growth.
